The Masterplan seeks to accommodate the requirements of future occupiers, users and operators via basement parking and / or replacement multi-story car parking. The parking strategy will be agreed with the Council’s Transportation department though the emphasis is likely to be on securing a “modal shift” away from private cars to public transport. The solution will by necessity be phased in line with the construction programme.
Service vehicles for plots 2 and 3 will access the shared basement via Wood Street. Elsewhere, service and emergencey vehicles will be allowed access to the pedestrinsed areas of Central Square through controlled drop bollards. These will be located at entrances to Central Street, Marland Street, Millennium Walkway and the Saunders Road entry point to Station Square.
